New Commissioner Named

by Frank Geyer

The West Coast Senior Lacrosse Association is pleased to announce that Ryan Hyland has come on board as the new league commissioner, taking over from the late Jamie Scott.

Ryan's experience with lacrosse started with his son starting to play the game at the age of 7. Since that time, he has held positions on the Juan De Fuca Minor Lacrosse Association as the Jersey Manager for 1 year, Vice President for two years and President for seven years. He also sat on the board of Directors of the Vancouver Island Minor Lacrosse Commission as the Vice President for a two-year term. When his son graduated from minor lacrosse and began to play Junior B Tier 1, Ryan moved up to the Junior level as the Vice President of the Junior B Tier 1 Victoria Shamrocks for two years.

Some of Ryan's accomplishments over the years included adapting and modernizing the Juan De Fuca Lacrosse Constitution and Bylaws and implement a policy manual for the association,  being the President during the amalgamation with the Victoria Field Lacrosse association, and as Vice President of the Junior Shamrocks, he updated the league agreement of the BC Junior B Tier 1 Lacrosse League.

Ryan is currently employed as the Chief Training Officer at CFB Esquimalt Fire Rescue where he has proudly served for 30 years, and looks forward to working with the teams, Executive and Board of Governors of the West Coast Senior Lacrosse Association and watching some exciting Lacrosse!
