The Royal City Capitals improved to 7-5-0-0 after defeating the visiting Coquitlam Adanacs 10-6 Saturday July 8th. After falling behind early, the Capitals rallied with three unanswered goals by Eric Tuura, Kyle Robinson and Andrew Polkinghorne to take a 3-1 lead into the first intermission. After the visitors tied the game by the seven minute mark of the second period, Royal City shooters went to work, with Navi Mahal and then Nate Schmidt with three straight rippling the twine to close out the period with the Caps up by three. Schmidt notched his fourth of the game sandwiched between a pair by Jimmy McBride in the final frame to seal the deal for the hosts, who kept the Coquitlam goalies busy by outshooting the visitors 55-29 on the night. Schmidt (4G) and McBride (2G, 2A) led Caps scoring while Michael Flintoff held down the fort in goal, stopping 23 of 29 shots.
The Capitals' next game is Tuesday July 11th when they visit the Langley Warriors. Their final home game before the playoffs is Saturday July 15th when they host the Valley Rebels at Queen's Park Arena. Face-off at 8:00pm.
