The Nanaimo Timbermen won their second game of the week Saturday July 8th on home floor by the count of 21-5 over the last place Valley Rebels. The T-men erupted for nine goals in the opening period while only surrendering one. Joe Fendick notched three goals and Graham Palmer two goals in a period that had Nanaimo outshoot Valley 25-11. The hosts picked up where they left off after the first intermission, peppering the Rebels net with 29 shots and seven goals, including four from Corey Shires. Shires finished the night with five goals and three assists to lead Timbermen scoring, while Nick Patterson and Matt Zeller combined to stop 28 of 33 shots in goal.
The Timbermen's final home game before is Sunday July 16th when they host the Ladner Pioneers at Frank Crane Arena. Face-off at 5:00pm.

The Canadian Lacrosse Association has approved the bid by the Nanaimo Timbermen to host the 2018 Presidents’ Cup national senior B lacrosse championships. The announcement came seven weeks after the WCSLA selected the bid from the Harbour City. "We're extremely happy. It's really huge for Nanaimo lacrosse. It's been a stressful seven or eight weeks while we were waiting for the CLA to give approval but it all worked out," said Team Governor Shawn Swanson. WCSLA Commissioner Dave Parsons says the league will act in a support role for the Nanaimo organizing committee. "It's good for the league, and it's good for Nanaimo. Shawn and the committee will do a good job - he's been around the game for many years," said Parsons. All games will be played at Frank Crane Arena.
